About

The Inflatable Ferret is a monthly online music and film publication and blog based in New York, which includes opinions, essays, reviews, and interviews, as well as a themed playlist every issue.  We offer our humble opinions about the latest and the not-so-latest in music, film, art, and literature.

Publication.

You can freely download each issue as a PDF on our Issue page or read them on our Issuu page here.

Why publish issues?

Especially in the dying age of print media, we believe in the importance of layout and design to accompany words and opinions.  We think they offer much more creative pliability than the traditional blog formats, and PDFs allow readers to take issues with them wherever they may go.

Name origin.

On the day of the magazine’s first interview, the IF editors stopped by a yard sale. At this time the magazine still didn’t have a name. We had considered Misanthrope, but none of us was sold on the name. After ten careless minutes at the sale, we stumbled upon a box of inflatable ferrets from 1987 that we assume had been used for educational purposes. From then on, we would be known as The Inflatable Ferret.
