There’s been a lot of buzz since Damon Albarn revealed that Gorillaz was planning on releasing its first studio album since 2005’s Demon Days, and to be honest, we weren’t all that optimistic when we posted in our inaugural Prognostication segment that the album would be out “before March.”  Well, DA and company did not disappoint, and Plastic Beach‘s March 9th release date – well, so what if it’s not before March?  And as if the Gorillaz collaboration isn’t epic enough for you, it features guest appearances from Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg (both of whom made IF’s Lollapalooza favorites list), Mick Jones, Paul Simonon, and the one and only Bobby Womack!  Gee whiz.

Speaking of supergroups, the New Pornographers are preparing to release their 5th official studio full-length, titled Together. That one’s new out on May 4th.  75% of the album (that’s 9 songs) was written by AC Newman, while Destroyer frontman Dan Bejar composed the other 3.  Is it safe to say it’s going to be a great spring?  Check out the full tracklist for Plastic Beach and a video for the album’s first single below.
